How a visit is planned

Most of what decides whether a repair finishes on the first visit is settled before the van leaves. Built-in cooking equipment is heavy, it is fitted into an opening cut to the appliance rather than to a standard, and getting it far enough forward to reach the back of it is often the longest part of the job. A wall oven comes out of a column on its own rails and needs two people and a clear route. A rangetop lifts out of a cut-out from above, but only once the counter around it is protected and the gas connection is safe to break.

So the details worth telling us when you book are practical ones: whether the appliance is free-standing or built in, whether the community is gated and how you want the entry handled, whether a van can stand near the door or the carry is a long one, and whether the kitchen is up a flight of stairs. None of that changes the price. It changes whether the part goes in on the day it arrives.
